| Crime briefs Fri, 29 Aug 2008 23:00:00 CST An unknown suspect stole more than $2,500 from a convenience store at 3819 S. Court St. The suspect entered the store through the front door about noon Friday. Someone broke into and vandalized a Pontiac Grand Prix in a parking lot at 8378 Perry St., between 1 and 1:30 p.m. The dashboard, front windshield, sunroof and passenger side window were destroyed. A Clarion CD player also was stolen during the incident. A local specialty store had a wood fence, D. Walt Hammer drill, and Ryiobi grass trimmer stolen off its property at 3372 Harrison Road. A woman had her wallet containing credit cards and two bottles of prescription medication stolen from her car in a supermarket parking lot, 3881 Atlanta Highway, about 9 a.m. At 7 p.m. Friday, someone stole a parking meter from 62 Dexter Ave. A man was arrested at his residence, 120 Kiwanis St., for domestic violence at 12:50 a.m. Police reports state the suspect did not resist arrest, but was drinking. The victim was treated at Jackson Hospital for wounds to the head and ear. A teenager broke into a home carrying a handgun last night. He was charged with first-degree robbery. The teen, who has no prior record, was arrested at 320 N. Ripley St. Police reports state the victim had a gunshot wound to the stomach. Someone stole an Alabama license plate, AV00030, from a vehicle in the 100 block of Grovewood Drive at 1 p.m. A second license plate was stolen from a vehicle in the Baptist Medical Center South parking deck at 2131 Normandie Drive.
